Content Moderation Policy
1. Purpose and Scope
This Content Moderation Policy ("Policy") explains, in detail, how DAILY reviews content, comments, profiles, and user reports in order to enforce our Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. It describes the respective roles of our AI-assisted tools and our human administrators, the range of possible outcomes, and how users can seek review of a moderation decision.
This Policy applies to all content submitted to the Service, including photos, captions, comments, reactions, profile information, and reports submitted by users about other users' content or profiles.
2. Overview of the Moderation Pipeline
Moderation on DAILY generally follows a consistent, multi-step process:
Step 1: Submission
A user uploads a photo, writes a caption, posts a comment, reacts to content, updates their profile, or submits a report about another user's post, comment, or profile.
Step 2: Automated AI-Assisted Analysis
The submitted content or report is automatically analyzed by our AI-assisted moderation tools. This analysis is designed to detect patterns and signals associated with possible violations of our Community Guidelines.
Step 3: Triage
Based on the outcome of the automated analysis, the system determines whether the content or report requires further attention. Content or reports that do not appear to raise concerns generally proceed with no further action. Content or reports that the AI determines may involve a potential violation are flagged and routed to a human administrator.
Step 4: Human Review
A human administrator reviews flagged content or reports, applying our Community Guidelines and Terms of Service, using their judgment and any relevant context available to them.
Step 5: Final Decision and Action
The human administrator determines the appropriate outcome and, if necessary, an enforcement action is taken against the content or account in question.
Step 6: Notification (Where Applicable)
Where appropriate and technically feasible, affected users may be notified of an enforcement action taken against their content or account.
3. Role of AI in Moderation
3.1 What Our AI Systems Do
Our AI-assisted moderation tools are used to:
- Analyze uploaded photos and captions for possible Community Guideline violations
- Analyze comments for possible Community Guideline violations
- Analyze user reports submitted about posts, comments, or profiles
- Detect patterns and signals associated with possible violations, such as indicators of hate speech, harassment, spam, or other prohibited content
- Recommend specific content or reports for human administrator review, based on the likelihood and potential severity of a violation
3.2 What Our AI Systems Do Not Do
To ensure that consequential decisions affecting your account always involve human judgment, our AI-assisted tools do not:
- Permanently delete any user account
- Permanently ban any user
- Make any final moderation decision of any kind, including temporary restrictions or suspensions
The role of our AI systems is limited to detection, analysis, and recommendation. No enforcement action is executed by AI alone.
4. Role of Human Administrators
Human administrators are responsible for making all final moderation decisions on DAILY. When content or a report is flagged for review, a human administrator will:
- Review the flagged content, comment, profile, or report, together with any relevant context (such as the reporting user's stated reason, if provided)
- Apply our Community Guidelines and Terms of Service to determine whether a violation has occurred
- Consider the severity, intent, context, and history of the account involved, including whether this is a first-time or repeat violation
- Determine and carry out the appropriate outcome, which may include no action, content removal, a warning, an account restriction, a temporary suspension, or a permanent ban
Human administrators are the only parties authorized to take these final actions on DAILY.
5. Possible Outcomes of Moderation Review
Following human review, one of the following outcomes will generally apply:
| Outcome | Description |
|---|---|
| No Action | The content or report is determined not to violate our Community Guidelines, and no further action is taken. |
| Content Removal | The specific photo, caption, comment, or other content found to violate our Guidelines is removed from the Service. |
| Warning | The user responsible for the violation receives a warning intended to correct the behavior going forward. |
| Account Restriction | Certain account features (such as the ability to comment, post, or follow) may be temporarily limited. |
| Temporary Suspension | The account is temporarily prevented from accessing some or all of the Service. |
| Permanent Ban | The account is permanently removed from the Service, generally reserved for severe or repeated violations. |
The specific outcome applied in any individual case depends on the nature, severity, context, and frequency of the violation, as assessed by the reviewing human administrator.
6. User Reporting System
6.1 What You Can Report
Users may report the following types of content and profiles directly through the App:
- Posts (photos and captions)
- Comments
- User profiles
6.2 How Reports Are Processed
Each report submitted by a user is first analyzed by our AI-assisted system, consistent with the process described in Section 2. If the AI system determines that the report may involve a genuine violation warranting further attention, the report is escalated to a human administrator, who reviews the reported content and makes a final determination as described in Sections 4 and 5.
6.3 Reporting in Good Faith
Reports should be submitted in good faith and based on an honest belief that the reported content or profile violates our Community Guidelines. We reserve the right to take enforcement action against users found to be submitting reports in bad faith, including as a means of harassing another user.
7. Severity-Based Enforcement
Not all violations are treated equally. Our human administrators generally apply a proportionate approach to enforcement:
- Low-severity, first-time issues (e.g., a borderline caption) may result in content removal or a warning.
- Moderate violations (e.g., repeated spam, harassment) may result in temporary restrictions or suspension.
- Severe violations (e.g., credible threats of violence, sexual exploitation of minors, serious fraud) may result in immediate permanent bans, without a prior warning, and may be referred to relevant authorities where legally required or appropriate.
Repeated violations may also result in progressively stronger enforcement actions. While each case is assessed individually, users with multiple confirmed violations (typically three or more) may be permanently removed from the Service.
Repeated abuse of the reporting system is itself considered a violation of the Community Guidelines. Users who repeatedly submit false, malicious, or abusive reports may receive escalating enforcement actions, including permanent account termination where appropriate.
8. Timeliness of Review
We aim to review flagged content and escalated reports in a timely manner appropriate to the potential severity of the issue involved, prioritizing reports that suggest an immediate risk to user safety.
9. Appeals Process
If you believe that a moderation decision affecting your content or account was made in error, you may submit an appeal by contacting us at support@dailyemoji.app. Please provide your username and a description of the decision you wish to appeal, along with any additional context you believe is relevant. Appeals are reviewed by a human administrator who was not necessarily involved in the original decision, where practicable.
10. Transparency and Continuous Improvement
We are committed to being transparent about how content moderation works on DAILY. This Policy, together with our AI Transparency Policy, is intended to give you a clear picture of how AI and human judgment work together to keep the Service safe. We periodically review and refine our moderation processes, including the performance of our AI-assisted tools, to improve both accuracy and fairness.
11. Relationship to Other Policies
This Policy should be read together with our Terms of Service, Community Guidelines, and AI Transparency Policy. Where those documents describe prohibited content or user rights in more detail, this Policy governs specifically the mechanics of how moderation decisions are made and enforced.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Content Moderation Policy from time to time to reflect improvements to our moderation systems or changes in applicable law. Material changes will be communicated through the App.
